PM Shehbaz hosts dinner for South African, Pakistan cricket teams
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hosted a dinner in Islamabad in honour of the visiting South African cricket team and the national team.
Welcoming the South African players, the prime minister said the cricket series symbolises mutual respect and strong sports relations between the two countries.
He said cricket is more than just a game — it connects people across nations and promotes brotherhood and peace.
PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting international sports and providing a conducive environment for hosting major events.
Highlighting the friendly ties between Pakistan and South Africa, he noted that both nations have produced outstanding cricketers who have earned global acclaim.
The prime minister extended best wishes to both teams and hoped they would display brilliant performances throughout the series.
The management and players of the South African team thanked the government and people of Pakistan for their hospitality, describing the ongoing series as a memorable experience marked by passionate fan support.
So far, Pakistan and South Africa have played two Test matches.
The three-match T20 series begins on Tuesday, to be followed by three One Day Internationals.
