Field Marshal, Egyptian president vow to strengthen security and economic ties
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at the Itihadia Presidential Palace in Cairo, where both leaders discussed matters of mutual interest and bilateral relations, the military said on Friday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting reaffirmed the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and Egypt and highlighted their shared commitment to regional peace and stability.
Field Marshal Asim Munir commended Egypt’s leadership for its key role in promoting peace and stability in the region, while President el-Sisi appreciated Pakistan’s positive and proactive contributions to issues concerning the world and the Muslim Ummah.
Both sides underscored the importance of close coordination on matters of strategic interest and agreed to enhance cooperation in socio-economic development, technology, and security.
The meeting also emphasised the need to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and institutional collaboration between the two countries.
The interaction concluded on a warm note, with both leaders expressing confidence that a stronger economic and security dialogue would contribute to peace and stability in Pakistan, Egypt, and the wider region.
