Air Chief Zaheer Sidhu meets Romanian Air Force chief to boost cooperation
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, met Lieutenant General Leonard-Gabriel Baraboi, Chief of the Romanian Air Force Staff, during his official visit to Romania, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
According to ISPR, the visit focused on strengthening bilateral defence ties and exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation between the two air forces. Upon arrival at the Romanian Air Force Headquarters, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu was presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out contingent.
During their meeting, both air chiefs held detailed discussions on advancing operational cooperation through joint air exercises, training programmes, and the exchange of air and ground crews.
They also reviewed regional security dynamics and reaffirmed the importance of bilateral cooperation for maintaining global and regional stability.
Lieutenant General Baraboi lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and its successful response to Indian aggression.
He also appreciated the PAF’s strides in self-reliance and indigenous technological advancements under the leadership of Air Chief Marshal Sidhu.
Both sides agreed to establish robust institutional mechanisms for sustained collaboration in addressing shared air defence challenges.
Discussions also explored potential partnerships in advanced aerospace technology and defence industry sectors.
The Air Chief’s visit marks a significant milestone in Pakistan-Romania military relations, reflecting both countries’ commitment to peace, technological progress, and closer defence cooperation amid evolving regional security dynamics.
