A horrifying incident took place in Karachi’s North Nazimabad Block G, Kausar Niazi Colony, where a father brutally killed his two young daughters on Tuesday.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Akbar, son of Abdul Sattar, was arrested from the scene shortly after the incident.

Investigators said Akbar slit the throats of his 11-year-old daughter, Alia and 10-year-old daughter Zainab. Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect had been under severe financial stress and burdened with debts.

He had reportedly been unemployed for a long time and was mentally disturbed over his inability to pay back money owed through informal savings committees.

Officials said Akbar was the father of six children, one son and five daughters, with the deceased girls being the third and fourth among them.

The crime scene unit collected forensic evidence, and police have registered a murder case and launched further investigation.

Residents of the area told police that the suspect had appeared deeply troubled in recent days and had repeatedly spoken about his worsening financial condition.
