LHC orders restoration of Arshad Chaiwala’s CNIC, NADRA confirms citizenship
The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench has ordered the restoration of the Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) of Arshad Khan, popularly known as “Chaiwala”, after NADRA verified his citizenship.
Following the court’s directive, NADRA reinstated Khan’s CNIC and confirmed through its verification board that he and his family are bona fide Pakistani citizens.
Khan’s counsel, Advocate Umar Ijaz Gilani, informed the court that his client’s issue had been resolved. The court subsequently disposed of the petition.
Earlier, NADRA had blocked Arshad Khan’s CNIC and passport.
During the hearing, the court observed that blocking a citizen’s identification documents amounts to a violation of constitutional rights.
The case was heard by Justice Jawad Hassan.
