KP CM Sohail Afridi says PTI founder to decide cabinet formation
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said on Monday that the formation of the provincial cabinet will be decided by the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Speaking to the media in Peshawar, CM Afridi said, “The cabinet will be formed after a meeting with the PTI founder Imran Khan. We are making efforts to meet him soon.”
Old vehicles an insult to KP police
Earlier, criticising the federal government, the KP chief minister said Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had provided outdated and substandard bulletproof vehicles to the provincial police, which he termed “an insult to the force.”
Presiding over the first high-level security review meeting after assuming office, he directed that the vehicles be returned immediately.
Afridi also ordered that security privileges previously withdrawn from former chief ministers be restored.
The meeting was attended by the chief secretary, inspector general of police, additional chief secretary, administrative secretaries, and senior police officials.
During the meeting, the chief minister reviewed progress on the provincial government’s good governance roadmap and the overall law and order situation in the province.
Afridi praised the provincial bureaucracy and police for protecting the public mandate during the February 8, 2024, general elections.
“Despite pressure, they upheld the people’s mandate, and I commend their resolve,” he said.
He noted that some officials, unfortunately, could not withstand the pressure, but those who stood by the people would be honoured with awards.
