The Sindh government has decided to relocate Rano, the bear kept at the Karachi Zoo, following the orders of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

The matter of Rano’s transfer has been handed over to the Sindh Wildlife Department for implementation.

According to the Secretary of Wildlife, Rano will be moved to the “Black Bear” Rehabilitation Centre in Islamabad, where a Deputy Conservator–rank officer will be appointed to supervise her care and recovery.

Officials said Rano has spent a long period in captivity and is not yet ready to live in the wild.
