PPP decides to gives government ‘more time’ to deliver on promises
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), as a coalition partner, has decided to give the federal government more time to deliver on its commitments, senior party leader and Senator Sherry Rehman said on Saturday after the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting chaired by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari at Bilawal House.
Speaking to the media alongside Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and party leader Nadeem Afzal Chan, Sherry Rehman said the PPP has always opposed terrorism and continues to stand shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan’s armed forces.
Referring to the anniversary of the Karsaz tragedy, she said PPP workers had acted as a shield for their leaders and sacrificed their lives for democracy.
“The PPP has always stood firm against extremism and terrorism,” she added.
Rehman said the party understands the national security challenges and believes Pakistan’s unity is the key to overcoming them.

“In the Marka-e-Haq, Pakistan inflicted a historic defeat on India,” she added, reaffirming that the party stands united for the defence and stability of the country.
“In the formation of the government, many promises were made to the PPP. We are giving the federal government more time to fulfil those promises,” she said.
She also called for relief measures for flood victims, urging that farmers be compensated with fair wheat prices and that the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) be used to extend assistance to affected families.
The CEC meeting, chaired by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, paid tribute to the martyrs of democracy, including those of the Karsaz tragedy, and discussed the country’s overall political and security situation.
According to party sources, the PPP expressed readiness to play a constructive political role in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir and reaffirmed its commitment to national unity and good governance.
Those attending the meeting included President Asif Ali Zardari, Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Senators Raza Rabbani, Aitzaz Ahsan, Farooq H. Naek, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, and several provincial ministers.
