18 terrorists killed in North Waziristan and Lakki Marwat operations
Security forces killed 18 Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists in separate operations in North Waziristan and Lakki Marwat, while foiling a major suicide attack on a military camp in Mir Ali, officials said on Friday.
According to security sources, in Datta Khel, North Waziristan, forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) following reports of terrorist movement in nearby areas.
After several days of surveillance, the militants were encircled, resulting in the killing of six terrorists and injuries to three others during an intense exchange of fire.
Among the dead was the Fitna al-Khawarij commander, Mehboob alias Mohammed.
The sources said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to eliminate anti-peace elements under the National Action Plan, reaffirming that both the people and security forces remain determined to uproot terrorism from the country.
Four terrorists killed in Mir Ali
In Mir Ali, a group of terrorists attempted to ram an explosive-laden vehicle into a security forces’ camp.
The vehicle exploded at the perimeter wall, after which three more attackers tried to enter the camp.
Swift response by security forces killed all four attackers, including the suicide bomber. No casualties were reported among security personnel.
Eight terrorists eliminated in Lakki Marwat
In a separate operation in Sultan Khel, Lakki Marwat, security forces killed eight terrorists linked to Fitna al-Khawarij, operating as a proxy of the Afghan Taliban.
The action was carried out based on confirmed intelligence regarding their presence in the area.
Surveillance led to precise targeting, resulting in the recovery of a large cache of weapons and explosives.
Security sources said that in the past four days, as many as 108 terrorists sent by the Afghan Taliban have been eliminated in various operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Separately, in Bajaur, security forces intercepted and destroyed a vehicle packed with hundreds of kilograms of explosives that militants intended to detonate in a populated area.
The explosives had been smuggled from Afghanistan, concealed within commercial goods.
There were no casualties or damage in the incident.
It is noteworthy that a day earlier, the Pakistan Army had successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt in Mohmand, killing 45 to 50 militants of Fitna al-Khawarij.
According to the ISPR, between October 13 and 15, 34 terrorists linked to the same group were killed in multiple clashes across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including in North Waziristan’s Spinwam, South Waziristan, and Bannu districts.
