Pakistani forces thwart cross-border assaults by Afghan Taliban, Fitna Al Khawarij: ISPR

Pakistani forces effectively repelled coordinated cross-border attacks by the Afghan Taliban and militant group Fitna Al Khawarij at multiple locations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

According to the military’s media wing, the Afghan Taliban launched a “cowardly attack” in the early hours of October 15 at four locations in the Spin Boldak area of Balochistan, which was successfully thwarted by Pakistani troops.

“Unfortunately, the attack was orchestrated through divided villages in the area, with no regard for the civilian population,” the statement read. “The Afghan Taliban also destroyed the Pak-Afghan Friendship Gate on their side, which clearly displays their mindset regarding mutual trade and easement rights of the divided tribes.”

The ISPR said that 15–20 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed and several others injured during the exchange. “The situation is still developing as reports indicate further build-up at staging points of Fitna Al Khawarij and Afghan Taliban,” it added.

The military further stated that the Spin Boldak assault was not an isolated incident, as Afghan Taliban and Fitna Al Khawarij militants also attempted to attack Pakistani border posts in the Kurram sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the night of October 14–15.

“These attacks were effectively repulsed, causing heavy losses to Afghan posts. Eight posts, including six tanks, were destroyed in the effective yet proportionate response of Pakistani troops,” the ISPR said. “An estimated 25–30 Afghan Taliban and Fitna Al Khawarij fighters were killed.”

“The insinuations that the attack was initiated by Pakistan are outrageous and blatant lies, just like the claims of capturing Pakistani posts or equipment. The propaganda of the Taliban regime can be debunked with basic fact checks,” said ISPR.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s stance, the ISPR emphasised that the armed forces remain fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“All acts of aggression against Pakistan will be responded to with full force,” it concluded.
