Pakistan on Sunday strongly condemned unprovoked aggression along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border by the Afghan Taliban, Fitna Al Khawarij and Fitna Al Hindustan, warning that any further provocation will be met with a resolute and effective response.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Foreign Office expressed deep concern over the incidents that took place on the night between October 11 and 12, 2025, calling them “unjustified acts of aggression” aimed at destabilising the border region.

Such unprovoked actions aimed at destabilising the Pak-Afghan border belie the overall spirit of peaceful neighbourhood and cooperative relations between the two brotherly countries, the statement added.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said that Pakistan exercised its right to self-defence, effectively repelling the attacks at several locations along the border.

The statement said Pakistan’s forces inflicted heavy losses on Taliban fighters and associated Khwarijis in terms of personnel, equipment, and infrastructure.

These infrastructures were used to plan and facilitate terrorist attacks against Pakistan. The Foreign Office emphasised that all possible measures were taken to avoid collateral damage and protect civilians during the retaliatory strikes.

The statement reaffirmed that Pakistan values dialogue, diplomacy, and mutually beneficial relations with Afghanistan, but warned that the government remains fully alert and will take all necessary steps to safeguard its territory and citizens.

Any further provocations would be met with an unwavering and befitting response, it added.

Pakistan also rejected recent statements made by the interim Afghan foreign minister during his visit to India, describing them as an attempt to divert attention from the presence of terrorist elements inside Afghanistan.

“These baseless allegations do not absolve the Taliban authorities of their responsibility to ensure peace and stability in the region,” the spokesperson said, noting that UN monitoring reports have repeatedly confirmed the continued presence and activities of terrorist groups on Afghan soil.

The statement reiterated that counterterrorism is a shared responsibility, urging the Taliban government to ensure that Afghan territory is not used for terrorism against any other country and to play a constructive role for regional and global peace.

Pakistan, the statement said, has repeatedly voiced its concern over the presence of terrorist groups Fitna Al Khawarij and Fitna Al Hindustan operating from Afghan territory, and expects the Taliban authorities to take firm and verifiable action against them.

Referring to Pakistan’s long-standing humanitarian role, the Foreign Office said the country has hosted nearly four million Afghan refugees for over four decades out of goodwill, Islamic brotherhood, and humanitarian considerations. Pakistan will now regulate the presence of Afghan nationals within its borders in accordance with international laws and norms.

Reaffirming Islamabad’s stance, the statement said Pakistan desires a peaceful, stable, friendly, and prosperous Afghanistan and expects the Taliban regime to act responsibly, honour its commitments, and work toward the complete elimination of terrorism.

Pakistan is desirous of a peaceful, stable, friendly, inclusive, regionally connected, and prosperous Afghanistan. Pakistan expects the Taliban regime to act responsibly, honour its commitments, and play a constructive role in achieving the shared objective of rooting out terrorism from its soil.

We also hope that one day, the people of Afghanistan will be emancipated and will be governed by a true representative government, the statement added.
