President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed that Pakistan will never compromise on its sovereignty and remains fully committed to protecting its national interests, territorial integrity, and security in the face of recent Afghan aggression.

In a statement issued by the President’s Secretariat on Sunday, President Zardari said that Pakistan “will never accept any disputed or misleading position on Jammu and Kashmir,” emphasising that “India’s unlawful claims over the territory are contrary to international law and the United Nations Security Council resolutions.”

The president expressed regret that the interim Afghan administration had “turned away from the just struggle of the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” calling it “an injustice to both history and the Muslim Ummah.”

President Zardari said that attacks launched from the territory of the interim Afghan government by “India-backed Khawarij terrorists” were a “well-documented reality, confirmed in successive United Nations Security Council monitoring reports.” He added, “Pakistan has repeatedly made it clear that its civilians and security personnel are being targeted through the nexus of Indian-sponsored Khawarij and other terror groups.”

Urging Kabul to take “concrete and verifiable action” against anti-Pakistan terrorist elements operating from its soil, the president warned that “the terror menace of the Khawarij and other groups sponsored by India remains the greatest threat to regional peace and stability.”

He stressed that terrorism was a shared challenge and that “its burden cannot be placed on any single country.”

Highlighting Pakistan’s long-standing support for Afghanistan, President Zardari said the country had “demonstrated Islamic fraternity and exemplary neighbourliness by hosting millions of Afghan refugees for over four decades.” He added that the dignified repatriation of Afghan citizens was “in the interest of both countries and essential for sustainable peace.”

Reiterating Pakistan’s goodwill, the president said, “Pakistan will continue to support the educational and humanitarian needs of the Afghan people, but no compromise will ever be made on Pakistan’s national sovereignty.”

He recalled that Pakistan had extended “every possible facilitation to Afghanistan in trade, economic connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges,” adding that “mutual cooperation and economic partnership are the foundation for lasting peace and regional prosperity.”

“Pakistan desires a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Afghanistan,” President Zardari stated, stressing that “brotherly relations must be based on mutual respect, security cooperation, and a shared commitment to regional peace.”

He expressed hope that the interim Afghan government would prevent its territory from being used by “Khawarij and India-backed terrorist elements” against Pakistan, emphasising that “only joint and practical measures can guarantee enduring peace in the region.”
