Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Saturday departed for the United States to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, where he will represent Pakistan in key global economic discussions.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the minister will take part in over 65 events, forums, and bilateral meetings during his six-day visit.

These include high-level interactions with senior officials from the IMF, World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).

Aurangzeb is scheduled to hold a one-on-one meeting with World Bank President Ajay Banga and will also attend a special dinner hosted by Banga for finance ministers of selected countries.

The finance minister will meet IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on the sidelines of both the G24 meeting and the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan (MENAP) platform, where he will serve as a keynote speaker.

He is also set to address a World Bank-hosted roundtable on the digital transformation of Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), with participation from tax authorities of other countries sharing their reform experiences.

Aurangzeb will join two major events organised by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and hold meetings with his counterparts from China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan.

The visit will also include meetings with senior officials at the White House, members of the US Congress Financial Services Committee, and representatives of the Departments of State and Treasury, as well as the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
