PML-N moves to end rift with PPP, urges patience until PM Shehbaz’s return
Senior leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) have launched efforts to end the ongoing confrontation with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), sources said on Tuesday.
The sources said that senior PML-N leaders reached out to their PPP counterparts and advised them to wait for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s return from abroad.
The PML-N leaders have maintained that direct talks with the PPP would be held after Prime Minister Shehbaz’s return from abroad.
According to the sources, the PML-N leaders have also briefed the prime minister on the progress of talks with the PPP, while Shehbaz Sharif is expected to personally step in to help settle the dispute once he returns to the country.
The PML-N leaders have also contacted Awami National Party (ANP) chief Aimal Wali Khan, who shared his party’s stance on the withdrawal of his security and other concerns.
The PML-N leadership has assured that all issues will be addressed upon the prime minister’s return.
The sources said that National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Adviser to the PM Rana Sanaullah, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, and Syedal Khan have been in touch with PPP leaders to ease the tension in parliamentary affairs.
The sources added that the PPP has expressed willingness to resolve matters through dialogue but stressed that it would make no compromise on its dignity and political respect.
The PPP has maintained that the PML-N should take concrete steps to address its concerns in order to improve the political climate.
Meanwhile, PML-N leaders have advised PPP leadership to wait for PM Shehbaz’s return to enable direct engagement and an amicable resolution of the dispute.
