PPP, PML-N row: Naqvi to meet PM Shehbaz tomorrow on Zardari’s instructions
President Asif Ali Zardari has stepped in to defuse the ongoing tensions between the Sindh and Punjab governments and met Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Karachi, where the two leaders held detailed discussions on the ‘war of words’ going on between the leaders of the PPP and the PML-N.
Sources said that during the meeting, which took place at Bilawal House in Karachi, the president directed the interior minister to play an active role in easing the current political tensions.
On the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi briefed the president on the overall law and order situation in the country and informed him about the state of coordination among the provinces.
According to sources, the meeting also touched upon the political grievances that surfaced after the Punjab caretaker government, as well as certain statements and administrative actions that have caused friction.
President Zardari instructed the interior minister to work towards enhancing coordination at the federal level.
The sources added that the president also advised Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders to exercise caution in their public statements amid the prevailing situation.
