PTI nominates opposition leaders for National Assembly, Senate

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) parliamentary party signed names for the new opposition leaders in the National Assembly and Senate on Monday.

Chairman Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Mahmud Khan Achakzai will be the new opposition leader in the National Assembly, replacing Omar Ayub Khan after his disqualification.

Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, Head of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), was also nominated as the opposition leader in the Senate. Former Opposition Leader Shibli Faraz had been facing the disqualification due to terrorism charges.

Both the leaders serve as members of the opposition coalition – Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan – headed by Sahibzada Hamid Raza of the Sunni Ittehad Council.

According to the PTI Chairman, Barrister Gohar Khan, the party leader gave his instructions and the decisions were taken as per his policy.
