ICC Women’s World Cup: Deepti, Karnti shine as India beat Pakistan by 88 runs
In a crucial ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 match in Colombo, India beat Pakistan by 88 runs as Deepti Sharma and Kranti Goud thumped Pakistan’s batting line-up.
Chasing the target of 248 runs, the Pakistan team were all out on a total of just 157 runs in 43 overs.
Sidra Amin played a tremendous knock of 81 runs, but couldn’t save her team from a defeat at the hands of arch-rivals.
Deepti Sharma and Kranti Goud took three wickets each, giving a dominant performance for their team.
In the first innings, Harleen Deol made 46 runs for India, while Richa Ghosh and Jemimah Rodrigues added 35 and 32 runs, respectively.
Pakistan’s Diana Baig clinched four wickets against 69 runs in 10 overs. Sadia Iqbal and Fatima Sana also grabbed a couple of wickets each.
Speaking at the toss, Pakistan captain Fatima Sana expressed confidence, saying: “We performed well in the qualifiers and hope to deliver a better performance today as well.”
Notably, during the toss in Colombo, the captains of both teams did not shake hands, a gesture typically seen before the start of matches.
