Court extends physical remand of Falak Javed for four more days in anti-state tweet case
A local court in Lahore on Saturday extended the physical remand of PTI activist Falak Javed for four more days in a case involving an alleged anti-state tweet and the upload of an “inappropriate” image of a provincial minister.
During the hearing at the district courts, Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo presided over the proceedings as the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) requested a 20-day physical remand of the accused.
The investigation officer informed the court that the suspect had earlier been declared a proclaimed offender, and that one of her one-kanal properties had been confiscated.
The officer added that Javed has over 379,000 social media followers, and urged the court to compel her to surrender her account ID and password if she considers herself innocent.
After hearing arguments from both sides, Magistrate Wattoo granted a four-day extension in the suspect’s physical remand, directing investigators to submit progress at the next hearing.
