PM Shehbaz briefs Nawaz on Kashmir and foreign visits

PML-N leadership agrees on a ceasefire with PPP

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday met former prime minister and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and briefed him on his recent foreign visits.

The meeting, which was also attended by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, was held at the Jati Umra residence of the Sharif family.

Prime Minister Shehbaz gave a detailed briefing on the current situation in Azad Kashmir and the success of recent negotiations with protesters.

The prime minister is scheduled to depart for a two-day official visit to Malaysia tomorrow (Sunday) at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim had also extended an invitation to Nawaz Sharif for a visit to Malaysia, but Nawaz politely declined, expressing his willingness to visit at a later, more suitable time.

During them meeting, the PML-N leadership agreed to a ceasefire with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Nawaz Sharif emphasised that any differences with coalition partners should be resolved through mutual consultation and that the legitimate demands of the Kashmiri people must be implemented.

The meeting held in-depth discussions on formulating a strategy for the upcoming local body elections.

The prime minister briefed the party leader about recent foreign visits, the situation in Kashmir, the resolution of tensions, and the agreements reached.

Speaking on the occasion, Nawaz Sharif instructed the leadership to take Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s recent concerns seriously.

He stressed that Pakistan’s role in establishing peace in the Middle East has become crucial and that the Pakistan-Saudi agreement has elevated Pakistan’s international importance.

Maryam Nawaz informed the meeting about the reasons behind the differences with the PPP.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan four days ago via a special flight from London after his health showed improvement.
