Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced that the provincial government is considering strict actions against parents who refuse to give polio drops to their children.

The likely actions against such parents include suspending their mobile SIMs, national identity cards and passports to deprive them of communication and travel facilities.

Chairing a meeting on polio eradication at the Chief Minister’s House in Karachi, Murad Ali Shah ordered the establishment of a “polio vaccine-refusal cell” at the CM House to coordinate the response.

He warned that there was no alternative left but to penalise those who shirk their national responsibility to eliminate polio.

“The only remaining option is to punish those people who turn their backs on the nation’s duty to eradicate polio,” the chief minister said, according to officials present.

The proposed measures aim to pressure vaccine-resistant parents into compliance by limiting their access to mobility and communication. Further details on implementation and legal procedures were not announced at the meeting.
