US embassy in Pakistan limits visa and consular updates on X due to budget delays
The United States Embassy in Pakistan has announced that it will no longer provide regular visa and consular updates on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), citing security concerns and delays in budget approval.
In a statement issued on X, the embassy said the account would not be updated regularly until full operations are restored.
However, it is assured that emergency security and safety information will continue to be shared through the platform.
A US embassy spokesperson clarified that passport and visa services at the embassy in Islamabad and consulates across Pakistan are functioning normally.
Still, adjustments may be made depending on circumstances.
Diplomatic sources explained that, with regular social media updates suspended, Pakistani citizens seeking information on visa and consular services will now need to contact the embassy or consulates directly, or visit the US Department of State’s official website, travel.state.gov.
