Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday strongly rejected Indian media reports claiming he had apologised to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the Asia Cup 2025 trophy controversy.

In a statement on social media platform X, Naqvi dismissed the reports as “cheap propaganda” and accused Indian outlets of spreading lies.

“Indian media thrives on lies, not facts. Let me make it absolutely clear: I have done nothing wrong and I have never apologized to the BCCI nor will I ever do so,” he said.

Naqvi emphasised that the controversy surrounding the Asia Cup trophy presentation was being deliberately politicised by India.

It is unfortunate that “India continues to drag politics into cricket, damaging the very spirit of the game,” he added.

On the trophy itself, the ACC chief reiterated his stance: “As ACC president, I was ready to hand over the trophy that very day and I am still ready now. If they truly want it, they are welcome to the ACC office and collect it from me.”

His remarks came after Indian media, including India Today, reported that Naqvi had privately apologised to the BCCI while still refusing to hand over the Asia Cup trophy and medals without “specific conditions” being met.

The row erupted after the September 5 final in Dubai, when the presentation ceremony was delayed amid tensions between the two boards.

The Indian team refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi, accusing the ACC of mishandling the event.

The dispute has since escalated into a larger war of words, with Pakistan accusing India of politicising cricket and Indian media framing the episode as a diplomatic slight.
