Saim Ayub leaves Hardik Pandya behind, tops ICC T20I all-rounder rankings
Pakistan’s Saim Ayub has claimed the top spot in the ICC T20I all-rounder rankings. The left-handed batter and handy bowler jumped four places to reach the No.1 position, overtaking India’s Hardik Pandya.
Saim Ayub, 23, who had also equalised an unwanted record – five ducks in a single tournament and nine in his overall career, topped the rankings with a remarkable or perhaps ironic leap.
His performance was severely criticised during the recent Asia Cup T20I in Dubai.
Despite failing to fulfil his role as an explosive opening batsman for Pakistan, he grabbed eight wickets in seven matches, with an average of 16.00 and an economy rate of 6.40.
As a right-arm off-break bowler, he has now registered 16 wickets in twenty-over cricket.
