Salman Khan ‘used to cry to songs after breakup with Aishwarya Rai’
Bollywood lyricist Sameer Anjaan has revealed that superstar Salman Khan was deeply affected by his breakup with actress Aishwarya Rai, often breaking down in tears while listening to songs during the filming of Tere Naam (2003).
Speaking on a podcast, Anjaan said Salman would frequently call music composer Himesh Reshammiya before a shoot, ask him to play the film’s title track, and then cry uncontrollably before completing his scenes.
“The song was not written specifically for Salman, but he found his own pain in its words,” Anjaan explained.
According to him, the line “kyun kisi ko wafa ke badle wafa nahi milti” (why is loyalty not returned with loyalty) mirrored Salman’s inner turmoil.
He added that the actor hoped the song would reach Aishwarya so she could understand the depth of his suffering.
Salman and Aishwarya’s romance began in 1999 during the filming of “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam,” where their on-screen chemistry translated into real life.
However, the relationship ended in 2002, making it one of the most talked-about breakups in Bollywood history.
While Aishwarya married actor Abhishek Bachchan in 2007 and has a daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, Salman has remained unmarried, with his personal life continuing to draw public attention.
Anjaan, regarded as one of Bollywood’s most prolific lyricists, has written over 4,000 songs for more than 500 films in his three-decade-long career, working with leading composers such as Nadeem-Shravan, Anu Malik, and Himesh Reshammiya.
