Pakistan, Bahrain vow deeper defence cooperation: ISPR

Air Chief Marshal highlights deep-rooted religious and historical ties between both countries

General Shaikh Mohammed Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of the Bahrain National Guard, called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), at Air Headquarters on Thursday.

According to ISPR, both sides reaffirmed their resolve to enhance defence cooperation, placing special emphasis on joint training initiatives and collaboration in the aviation industry.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu welcomed the visiting dignitary and briefed him on PAF’s modernisation plans, including infrastructure development, revamping of training and induction of niche capabilities to boost operational preparedness.

“Pakistan and Bahrain enjoy deep-rooted religious and historical ties which are reflected in their exemplary military-to-military cooperation,” the Air Chief said, reiterating his resolve to expand bilateral collaboration in training, joint exercises and knowledge-sharing.

General Shaikh Mohammed Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa congratulated the Air Chief on PAF’s “professional excellence, operational readiness and remarkable courage,” and expressed Bahrain’s interest in undertaking bilateral exercises and joint training ventures with PAF.

The ISPR said the meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to broaden military cooperation and strengthen defence ties in the face of evolving regional challenges.

“The meeting between Chief of the Air Staff and Commander Bahrain National Guard underscored the unwavering commitment of both nations to broaden military cooperation, foster institutional collaboration and strengthen bilateral defence ties in the face of evolving regional challenges,” the statement concluded.
