Shan Masood to continue as test captain; Chairman PCB assures full support
Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi had a meeting with the captain of the men’s national cricket team, Shaan Masood, and coach Azhar Mehmood at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, ahead of the upcoming series with South Africa.
Mohsin Naqvi assured his full support for the team’s captain and head coach, for their ongoing plans and future strategies for the test side.
There was no discussion over replacing Shan Masood as the test captain, as he will continue to lead the national side.
Chairman PCB, along with head coach Azhar Mehmood and captain Shaan Masood, also reviewed the team’s preparation for the test series with South Africa.
South Africa’s upcoming tour to Pakistan is planned for October. They will play two tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is against the Green Shirts. The first test match is scheduled to be played on October 12 in Lahore.
The South African team have already announced their squads for both red and white ball formats. Temba Bavuma will miss the series due to a calf strain. Aiden Markram will lead the test side in place of Bavuma.
Quintin De Kock has also reversed his decision to retire from cricket as he was listed in the T20I and ODI squads.
PCB will probably announce the squad after the conclusion of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.
