CTD Punjab arrests 89 terrorists in three months of intelligence-based operations

Over 1,100 suspects held in 13,500 combing operations across the province

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has arrested 89 terrorists in 940 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted across multiple cities over the past three months, the department’s spokesperson said on Monday.

According to details, 14 terrorists were arrested each from Lahore and Rawalpindi, seven from Faisalabad, seven from Bahawalpur, six from Jhang, six from Sargodha, five from Sahiwal, four from Gujranwala, three from Gujrat, and three from Bahawalnagar.

Among those captured, 55 were linked to the banned group Fitna al-Khawarij, while others were associated with global terrorist outfits, including five from Daesh, two from al-Qaeda, two from Hizb ut-Tahrir, and two from Jeay Sindh.

The spokesperson said that CTD personnel also seized 85 detonators, 183 feet of safety fuse wire, cash, and mobile phones from the arrested militants.

Some of the identified terrorists include Ishaq, Shoaib, Hamza, Javed Iqbal, Zahid, Sohail, and Asad.

In parallel operations, CTD Punjab carried out 13,521 combing operations across the province, during which 552,692 individuals were questioned and 1,131 suspects taken into custody.

“These terrorists were planning activities to spread fear and unrest. Their arrests have significantly reduced potential threats,” the spokesperson added.
