The Pakistan team management has lodged a formal complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the controversial dismissal of Fakhar Zaman during the high-stakes Asia Cup match against India in Dubai.

According to sources, after the match, Team Manager Naveed Akram Cheema conveyed his concerns to Match Referee Andy Pycroft.

The team’s post-match captain’s report also highlighted the controversial decision.

The management expressed dissatisfaction with the incident and raised the matter with the ICC Umpires Manager.

TV replays clearly showed that the ball had touched the ground before reaching the gloves of the Indian wicketkeeper.

However, the Sri Lankan third umpire ruled Fakhar Zaman out. Zaman’s dismissal proved to be a turning point, triggering a collapse in the batting lineup.

Pakistan eventually lost the match by six wickets, their second defeat to India in the ongoing Asia Cup.

In the post-match press conference, Salman Ali Agha also cautiously commented on the call, saying, “Fakhar Zaman’s dismissal might have been incorrect, but ultimately, it’s the umpire’s decision. We felt the ball hit the ground, but the final say lies with the umpire.”

The decision left not only the players but even commentators stunned.

Former captain Waqar Younis, during the live broadcast, termed the decision a violation of cricketing fairness.

Fakhar Zaman, though walking off the field with a smile, wore an expression filled with frustration and disbelief.

Following the match, social media erupted in anger. Fans slammed the umpiring as scandalous. Former captain Mohammad Hafeez posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Pakistan isn’t just playing against India, but also against poor umpiring decisions.”

Fast bowler Mohammad Amir wrote: “Fakhar Zaman was not out.”

Meanwhile, Fawad Alam commented sarcastically: “It feels like Pakistan is playing against 14 players, not 11.”

Sources confirmed that the Pakistan cricket team management has officially expressed serious concerns over the decision and has filed a formal complaint against the third umpire.

This controversial decision in the Asia Cup has once again raised questions about neutrality and transparency in cricket officiating.
