During the high-voltage match against India in the Super Four stage of the 2025 Asia Cup on Sunday, Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf’s gestures suggesting the downing of India’s Rafale jets became a highlight in the media.

The moment immediately reminded viewers of the historic success of the Pakistan Air Force, when during the Pakistan-India conflict earlier in May this year, six Indian fighter jets — including French-made Rafale aircraft — were shot down.

Haris Rauf, who was fielding at the boundary line, responded to taunts from Indian spectators in a unique and sarcastic manner.

While mesmerising on the field with his bowling, he also teased the Indian fans with his gestures.

While fielding near the boundary, Haris used his fingers to signal ‘6-0’ and then mimicked a flying aircraft with his hand, showing it crashing down.

Fans at the stadium responded with chants of “Rafale! Rafale!”

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif was also impressed by Haris’s style.

In his characteristic tone, he tweeted: “Haris gave India the perfect response… Cricket matches will come and go, but India will never forget 6-0.”

This moment on the cricket field became a source of great amusement for spectators, and Pakistani social media users dubbed Haris Rauf the “Rafale Hunter.”
