Assistant commissioner of Ziarat and his son found dead in Harnai
The bodies of Assistant Commissioner Ziarat, Afzal Baqi, and his son, Mustansar Bilal, were found in the Zard Aloo area of Harnai on Sunday, 42 days after their abduction from the tourist site Zezri.
According to Levies, the district administration of Harnai was informed about two bodies lying near Zard Aloo. A heavy contingent of Levies reached the site, took the bodies into custody, and shifted them to hospital.
Officials said the abductors subjected both to severe torture before shooting them in the head. The bodies were later handed over to the heirs after the necessary hospital procedures.
On August 10, Afzal Baqi was on a picnic with his family and guards at Zezri when more than a dozen armed men surrounded them, disarmed the guards, and set the vehicle on fire before kidnapping the official and his son.
Thirty-six days after the abduction, a video of the captives surfaced on social media, in which Afzal Baqi pleaded with the government to accept the kidnappers’ demands. In the same video, his son said they were alive but in difficulty, urging the authorities to meet the demands for their release. Eight days later, both were killed.
