Three transgender persons shot dead in Karachi’s Memon Goth
Three transgender persons were brutally shot dead in the Memon Goth area along the Super Highway in Karachi on Saturday.
According to preliminary police reports, unidentified assailants opened fire on the victims, striking them in the head, chest, and arms. All three died on the spot.
The victims were identified as Ainee, Asma, and Samina, who were residents of Bilawal and Safoora Goths of Karachi.
A heavy police contingent arrived at the scene after the incident. Authorities said the victims were found without any identification documents, making immediate identification difficult.
Initial investigation suggests the victims may have been standing by the roadside, possibly waiting for a ride, when they were attacked.
“We are looking into the matter from all angles,” said the Station House Officer (SHO) of Memon Goth.
“The crime scene is located in a deserted area. Two 9mm bullet casings have been recovered from the site,” he added.
The bodies have been shifted to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination.
Sindh CM orders arrest of killers
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken serious notice of the incident and directed the Inspector General of Police to ensure the immediate arrest of those responsible.
“This is an extremely oppressed community that deserves dignity and respect from all of us,” said the chief minister.
“The state will not tolerate the murder of any innocent or vulnerable citizen.”
He also demanded a detailed report on the incident and reiterated that the perpetrators must be brought to justice without delay.
