Hospital staff booked for attempted murder after oxygen leak in Lahore ICU
Severe negligence by staff at the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences (PINS) led to an oxygen leak in the intensive care unit (ICU), after which three employees left without informing anyone at the end of their shift.
Following an inquiry, hospital management lodged a case of attempted murder against the staff members.
Police confirmed the arrest of the three suspects, identified as Siddiq, Shiraz, and Yasin.
According to the FIR, the oxygen leak caused patients in the ICU to struggle for breath, putting several lives at risk.
The report stated that while the staff initially tried to stop the leakage, they eventually left the hospital without alerting anyone when they failed to contain it.
The situation worsened until the Medical Superintendent of General Hospital was informed. The administration then intervened and managed to stop the leak.
Hospital officials admitted that no departmental action had been taken against the staff prior to the lodging of the case.
