Honour killing: Over hundred people killed in Sindh this year, mostly women
A total of 142 people in Sindh have been subjected to honour killing so far this year, said the report released by the provincial police department. The cases, mostly registered under karo-kari accusations
According to the findings, the victims included 105 women and 37 men.
Among the accused were 74 close relatives of the victims. The report noted that 38 women were killed by their husbands, six victims by their fathers, 24 by brothers, three by sons and three by daughters. In addition, 46 other relatives and seven neighbours or friends were also involved.
Police said that different types of weapons were used in these killings. The report highlighted that the highest number of such murders was recorded in the Larkana range.
In the first eight months of 2024, 86 cases of honour killings were reported in Sindh. Last year, a total of 99 people, including 79 women, were killed in the name of honour.
