The Punjab government has launched an electric bus service on the Wazirabad-Gujranwala and Alipur Chatha routes, offering passengers affordable fares along with modern facilities such as air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
The service was inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz during her visit to Wazirabad.
Residents lauded the initiative, terming it a significant step toward improving public transport in the region.
According to officials, the buses are equipped with special facilities for persons with disabilities.

Free travel will also be available for senior citizens over 60, students, women, and children.
As the electric buses reached Alipur Chatha, citizens warmly welcomed the vehicles and passengers by showering them with rose petals.
Locals appreciated the government’s move, noting that cheap, quality and environmentally friendly transport has been among Punjab’s top priorities.
The launch, they said, marks a promising start toward modernising travel options in the province.
