Attacks on police stations in Bannu and Karak foiled, 3 terrorists killed

Police repel assaults on two stations; militants flee with dead and injured

Security forces successfully thwarted terrorist attacks in the Bannu and Karak districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing three militants and injuring four others.

The attackers fled the scene, taking the dead and wounded with them, according to the police.

In Bannu, terrorists targeted the Miryan Police Station and later the Mozang checkpoint, but police forces responded with courage and strategic planning, forcing the assailants to retreat.

According to Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan, the attack on Miryan Police Station was thwarted within 20 minutes.

A second attack involving dozens of heavily armed militants at the Mozang checkpoint resulted in intense gunfire that lasted for over an hour.

The RPO Bannu confirmed that three terrorists were killed and four others injured during the exchange of fire.

The attackers managed to flee, carrying the bodies and the injured. Three police officers sustained minor injuries in the operation.

In a separate incident in Karak, terrorists launched an attack on the Gurguri Police Station, which led to an exchange of gunfire.

The District Police Officer (DPO) Karak stated that the attackers were prevented from advancing towards the police station.

Mohsin Naqvi praises police response

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi lauded the police’s swift and brave action in Bannu, commending their successful defence and the elimination of three terrorists.

“The police have foiled both cowardly attacks by the militants and demonstrated exceptional bravery,” Naqvi stated. “The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have written a new chapter of valour.”
