PM Shehbaz Sharif arrives in Saudi Arabia for state visit
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Saudi Arabia along with a high-level delegation on Wednesday as part of his state visit.
Upon arrival at the royal terminal in Riyadh, he was received by Deputy Governor of Riyadh Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz.
Several other senior Saudi officials were also present to welcome the Pakistani premier.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Farooq, along with other diplomatic staff, also welcomed the prime minister at the airport.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi accompanied the prime minister.
Following his arrival, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a brief meeting with Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman at the airport lounge, where both sides discussed Pakistan-Saudi bilateral relations and mutual cooperation.
The prime minister is scheduled to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman later today.
According to official sources, the meeting will cover a range of topics, including the regional situation in the Middle East, ways to enhance bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and investment opportunities.
The two leaders are also expected to hold in-depth discussions on energy projects, regional peace and stability, and the expansion of strategic and economic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The visit is expected to result in the formalisation of cooperation in diverse fields, reflecting the shared commitment of both sides to further enhance and deepen their longstanding fraternal ties.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy a historic relationship, rooted in shared faith, values and mutual trust.
The visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz will provide an opportunity to the two leaders to consolidate this unique partnership, while exploring new avenues of collaboration, for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
Visits to UK, US
After completing the visit to Saudi Arabia, the prime minister will travel to the United Kingdom, where meetings with British officials are expected.
According to sources, the prime minister will depart for the United States from the United Kingdom on September 21.
He will participate in the United Nations General Assembly session in New York.
The prime minister is also expected to attend a conference on the peaceful resolution of the Palestine issue in New York on September 22.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will address the UN General Assembly on September 26.
The prime minister will return to Pakistan from the United States on September 27 and is scheduled to arrive back home via the United Kingdom on September 29.
