IHC’s Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri barred from judicial work
Justice Jahangiri should cease working pending SJC’s verdict on a complaint against him
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday barred Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri from performing judicial duties until a decision is made by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan heard the case.
The court directed that Justice Jahangiri should cease working as a judge pending the SJC’s verdict on a complaint against him.
Senior legal experts Barrister Zafarullah Khan and Ashtar Ali Ausaf have been appointed as amici curiae (court assistants) in the case.
Moreover, the attorney-general has been requested to assist the court on the question of maintainability of the petition.
