Saudi crown prince awaits PM Shehbaz visit to Riyadh; both leaders condemn Israeli attacks
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Saudi Arabian Prime Minister and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, on the sidelines of the Emergency Arab–Islamic Summit held in Doha on September 9, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the Press Information Department (PID), Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir were also present during the meeting.
The statement said the meeting was “extremely warm and cordial” as the two leaders exchanged views on the situation following Israel’s attack on Doha. The prime minister “strongly condemned Israel’s action and termed it as a deliberate attempt to derail the Middle East peace efforts,” the PID added.
The prime minister expressed appreciation for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s “bold and sagacious leadership in unifying the Ummah at this critical time” and assured him of Pakistan’s full diplomatic support, particularly at the United Nations Security Council and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The statement further said the prime minister underlined that the convening of the Emergency Arab–Islamic Summit in Doha “sent out an important message that Muslims around the world spoke with one voice against Israel’s unlawful and reckless aggression that threatened regional peace and security.”
While reaffirming the “historic, deep-rooted fraternal bonds” between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the prime minister thanked the crown prince for the Kingdom’s “steadfast support for Pakistan, through thick and thin.”
The crown prince, according to the statement, said he was looking forward to the prime minister’s upcoming state visit to Riyadh later this week, which would provide an opportunity for a “comprehensive exchange of views on bilateral, regional, and global issues.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz also conveyed his warm respects to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The PID added that Prince Mohammed bin Salman “expressed his appreciation for the prime minister’s leadership and for Pakistan’s active diplomatic efforts, including at the UNSC and OIC, to express solidarity with Qatar at this critical time.”
