Floods in Punjab leave 104 dead, millions affected, says PDMA report

Over 4,700 villages hit as Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab rivers overflow; 2.5 million people evacuated

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has released its report on flood damages caused by overflowing rivers Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab, revealing a grim toll across the province.

According to the report, 104 people have died in various flood-related accidents, while more than 4,700 villages have been affected.

The floods have impacted 4.72 million people, though no fresh casualties were reported in the past 24 hours.

Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed said that 2.56 million people have been shifted to safer locations from inundated areas.

To support relief efforts, authorities have set up 372 relief camps, 454 medical camps, and 385 veterinary camps across the affected districts. More than 2.07 million livestock have also been moved to safe places.

Meanwhile, dam water levels remain a concern. Mangla Dam is 94% full, Tarbela Dam has reached full capacity, while India’s Bhakra Dam is at 88%, Pong Dam at 94%, and Thein Dam at 88%, according to the Relief Commissioner.

The PDMA said that emergency measures remain in place, with authorities continuing rescue, relief, and medical assistance operations in flood-hit areas.
