The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar announced the results of its Intermediate Part-I examinations late Sunday night, revealing that more than 37,000 students failed to clear the first-year exams.

According to official documents, 66,695 students appeared in the exams, of which 29,187 were declared unsuccessful. The results have sparked concern among both students and parents.

Among 22,663 female candidates, 14,722 passed, while the performance of male students proved particularly worrying.

Out of 39,733 regular candidates, only around 12,500 managed to clear their exams. Similarly, more than half of the private candidates also failed.

The documents further show that 616 students remained absent during the exams.

The unusually high failure rate has raised serious questions about the quality of education, exam preparedness, and the effectiveness of teaching methods in colleges across Peshawar.

Parents have expressed alarm over the outcome, urging the board to review its marking system and academic support mechanisms.
