Floodwaters reach Qadirpur gas wells, production suspended at ten sites
The Qadirpur gas field management announced that flood waters from Indus River have reached the platforms of gas wells. According to OGDCL sources, ten wells have been affected, leading to a suspension of gas production for past two days.
On Monday, the flooding has submerged multiple villages in the river’s Katcha area and caused erosion that has impacted gas wells operated by the Oil & Gas Development Company (OGDCL), sweeping away protective measures.
Officials have confirmed that floodwaters have breached the Emergency Response Water (ERW) system of gas wells located in Block-VI.
According to OGDCL report, ten wells have been affected leading to the suspension of gas production for the past two days, as reported by RC Sukkur.
Notably, the ERW platform, which withstood the 2010 super flood, has also been impacted this time.
The Qadirpur gas field is a significant gas reserve located in the Ghotki district of Sindh.
