Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday announced immediate relief for flood-hit electricity consumers, ordering distribution companies to suspend collection of August 2025 bills in affected regions.

Chairing a high-level meeting, the prime minister said a comprehensive package on electricity bills for flood victims would be finalised after ongoing discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

He also directed that bills already paid for August be adjusted in the next month’s statements.

Highlighting the scale of destruction, Shehbaz Sharif said the floods had displaced and affected millions of people nationwide.

“In this difficult time, we are making every possible effort to ease the pain of our people,” he remarked.

The prime minister added that federal and provincial institutions are fully engaged in rescue and rehabilitation efforts.

“We will not rest until every flood victim has returned to their home,” he asserted.
