Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on Muslim nations to unite against Israeli aggression, during a solidarity visit to Qatar in the wake of Israeli airstrikes targeting Hamas officials in Doha.

“Israel’s brazen aggression in the Middle East must be stopped and the Ummah needs unity in the face of such provocations”, Sharif said during his meeting with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, according to state-run Pakistan Television.

Israeli warplanes carried out strikes on Tuesday at Hamas leadership in Doha, killing five group members. Although Hamas leaders survived, the attack drew widespread condemnation for violating Qatar’s sovereignty and destabilising the region.

Sharif denounced the strikes as an attempt to undermine regional stability and ongoing diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s “unwavering support for the security and sovereignty of Qatar”and lauded Doha’s “constructive mediatory role” in efforts to secure peace in Gaza.

The prime minister, accompanied by Pakistan’s defense and foreign ministers, arrived in Qatar for a one-day visit to express solidarity after the strikes.

Meanwhile, Qatar announced it will host an emergency Arab- Islamic summit on Sept 14-15 to deliberate on Israel’s attack. Following the incident, Sharif said Pakistan had called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council at Qatar’s request. Qatar has warned it will not tolerate Israel’s “reckless conduct”.
