Light to heavy rain continues to lash Karachi for second day

Woman among 7 killed in rain-related incidents across the city

Light to heavy rain lashed many areas of Karachi on Thursday morning, disrupting normal life. Rain occurred in areas such as PECH Society, Do Talwar, Gurumandir, Liaquatabad, Saddar, and surrounding neighbourhoods, turning the weather pleasant.

The Meteorological Department has also forecast light rain in Karachi today.

Casualties in rain-related incidents

At least seven people, including a woman, lost their lives in various rain-related accidents in Karachi during the ongoing rain spell.

The bodies of 60-year-old Nabo, wife of Gulab; 45-year-old Raja, and 40-year-old Javed Shah were recovered after a high-roof vehicle fell into the Konkar stream near Gadap.

In North Nazimabad, Ahmed Jan died due to electrocution in a shop. In Khawaja Ajmer Nagri, 18-year-old Mustaqeem was electrocuted after coming into contact with an electric pole.

Meanwhile, in Shah Latif Town, one person was rescued alive from the Malir River, while the search for another is still ongoing.

Two individuals stranded in the Lyari River in Gulshan-e-Iqbal were rescued. From the Korangi Nullah, 16-year-old Nadir and an elderly worker were also recovered safely.

Additionally, 12 people, including 9 children, were rescued by boat from Shehbaz Goth in Gadap.
