Punjab acquires Pakistan’s first airlift drone to rescue flood victims
Punjab has become the first province in Pakistan to deploy an advanced airlift drone for rescue and relief operations.
According to officials, the drone is capable of lifting and transporting a person weighing up to 200 kilogrammes to safety. It marks the launch of the country’s first-ever emergency airlift drone service.
Punjab’s Home Secretary said the new technology will allow rescuers to reach inaccessible and hazardous areas, ensuring timely evacuation and assistance to flood victims.
Authorities have also approved the purchase of 10 additional airlift drones for civil defence operations across the province.
Test flights of the drone were successfully conducted in Lahore, following which the Home Secretary directed that the machine be dispatched to Multan for deployment in South Punjab.
Officials added that the introduction of this cutting-edge technology will bring a revolutionary shift in rescue operations, enabling quicker, safer, and more efficient emergency response.
