The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued a notification declaring Rana Sanaullah victorious on a general seat from Punjab in the Senate.

However, the notification makes it clear that his victory is subject to the outcome of a petition filed by PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhry, which is currently pending before the Lahore High Court (LHC).

Chaudhry has approached the court, seeking to declare his disqualification illegal and to halt the Senate election process.

His disqualification earlier paved the way for the ECP to announce the Senate schedule for the Punjab seat.

The LHC is expected to hear the case in the coming days, and the outcome will determine whether Rana Sanaullah’s victory stands.
