Since June, Pakistan has been grappling with devastating floods caused by a combination of glacial melts and above-average revenge rainfall.
The National Disaster Management Authority reported that the death toll has risen to 910 across the country with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) suffering the most, recording 504 fatalities.
The Buner district in KP has been particularly hard hit with landslides and floods claiming the lives of 256 individuals including 23 children. Punjab has also experienced its “worst ever flood” affecting approximately 4.1 million people.
As floodwaters from Punjab begin to flow in to Sindh, the province is preparing for a forecast of heavy rain. Over 128,000 people have been already evacuated from low-lying areas as further flooding is anticipated.
