A major flood wave is expected to reach Guddu Barrage today (Sunday), raising concerns of flooding in the riverine (katcha) areas of Sindh.

In Sehwan, announcements are being made urging residents of the river belt to evacuate the area.

Sindh Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla stated that all necessary arrangements have been made to deal with the flood wave.

Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Owais Qadir Shah, during his visit to the Sukkur Barrage, said that the situation would become clearer once the flood wave reaches Panjnad and Guddu Barrages.

Meanwhile, irrigation officials have said that work is underway at vulnerable points of the protective embankments, and there is no threat to the Sukkur Barrage from the flood.
