ATC grants bail to PTI founder’s nephew in Jinnah House attack case
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Thursday granted bail to Shershah, the nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, in the May 9 Jinnah House attack case.
The decision was announced by ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul, who had earlier reserved the verdict.
The court approved Shershah’s bail against surety bonds worth Rs100,000.
During the hearing, defence counsel Rana Muddasir argued that no challan had yet been submitted against the accused, and it was unclear when the trial would begin.
“An accused cannot be kept in custody for an indefinite period,” he said.

The defence counsel further contended that no concrete evidence had been presented against Shershah, nor was he involved in any act of rioting or violence.
The lawyer argued that others facing more serious allegations had already been granted bail, and that there were no accusations of vandalism directly against Shershah.
He said an accused cannot be implicated merely on the identification of another suspect, and urged the court to approve the bail request and order his release.
