The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced that applications are now open for the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships (SGE Scholarships) 2026–2027, offering Pakistani students, researchers, and scholars the chance to pursue advanced studies and research at leading Swiss institutions.

Recognised worldwide for innovation, cutting-edge research, and world-class faculty, Swiss universities provide a vibrant academic environment where Pakistani scholars can gain international exposure and strengthen their academic and research careers.

The scholarships are available for PhD, research, and postdoctoral fellowships and include comprehensive financial coverage. Benefits range from a monthly stipend — CHF 1,920 for PhD and research scholars, and CHF 3,500 for postdoctoral fellows — to health insurance, accommodation allowance, travel costs, a one-time housing deposit grant, and a half-price public transport card.

Education experts have welcomed the initiative, highlighting that such programs not only enhance Pakistan’s human capital but also foster cross-cultural exchange and build stronger research linkages between Pakistan and Switzerland.
